Does caffeine help me to lose my weight?

Caffeine (coffee, tea, mate, energy drink, colas, cocoa, chocolate and some medications and supplements) may slightly boost weight loss or prevent weight gain, but there's no sound evidence that increased caffeine consumption results in significant or permanent weight loss. Although research about caffeine effect on weight isn't definitive, there are several theories about how caffeine might affect weight:

  • Appetite suppression but no enough evidence to show that long-term consumption aids weight loss.
  • Calorie burning. Caffeine may stimulate thermogenesis but also isn't enough to produce significant weight loss.
  • Water loss. caffeine can act as a diuretic in some people, which means it increases the amount of urine you excrete and this increase in urine output, mostly water loss, may temporarily decrease your body weight, but it doesn't result in the loss of body fat. Be careful about using caffeine products for weight loss because too much caffeine might cause nervousness, insomnia, nausea, increased blood pressure and other problems..
I’m taking Warfarin "anti blood clotting" and i’ve been told that there are some food items affect it’s effect, so could you please tell me what are these foods?

Vitamin K can lessen warfarin's (a blood-thinning medication helps treating and preventing blood clots) effectiveness. It's important how much vitamin K you get daily (average daily allowance of vitamin K for adult men is 120mcg and for adult women 90mcg).

While eating small amounts of foods that are rich in vitamin K shouldn't cause a problem, but avoid eating or drinking large amounts of:

  • Kale
  • Spinach
  • Brussels sprouts
  • Parsley
  • Collard greens
  • Mustard greens
  • Chard
  • Green tea Certain drinks can increase the effect of warfarin, leading to bleeding problems.

So avoid or drink only small amounts of these drinks when taking warfarin:

  • Cranberry juice
  • Alcohol Ask your doctor before making changes in your diet and before starting any over-the-counter medications, vitamins or supplements

i want to lose weight quickly but i’ve that it’s unhealthy?

Fast weight loss is unhealthy since it usually takes extraordinary efforts in diet and exercise (such efforts might be harmful and you probably can't maintain as permanent lifestyle changes).

A weight loss of 1-2 pound per week is the typical.

Although it seems slow , it's more likely to help you maintain your weight loss for the long term. Remember that 1 pound (0.45 kg) of fat contains 3,500 calories. So to lose 1 pound a week, you need to burn 500 more calories than you eat each day (500 calories x 7 days = 3,500 calories).

If you lose a lot of weight very quickly, it may not be fat .

It might be water weight or muscles, since it's hard to burn that many fat calories in a short period.

i always suffer of heartburn so how to overcome it?

most of us suffer from heartburn from time to time especially those who live unhealthy and keep eating greasy foods...

kindly find below tips that will help:

  1. Lose excess kilos
  2. Eat smaller meals
  3. Don't wear tight clothes
  4. Avoid triggers (alcohol, fatty foods, chocolate, peppermint)
  5. Don't lie down soon after a meal
  6. Raise the head of your bed when sleeping
  7. Quit smoking
i drink a lot of water even during and after meals , so is it unhealthy?

There's no concern that water after meal will interfere with digestion. In fact, drinking water during or after a meal can improve digestion. it helps break down the food in your stomach and keep your digestive system on track. Remember that water contains no calories so it won’t contribute to weight gain or fat deposition in your abdomen...

And don't forget to eat plenty of fruits, vegetables and whole grains. As well maintain a healthy weight by including physical activity in your daily routine.

i always skip my breakfast...i don’t feel like to eat when i wake up...and i know that breakfast meal is the most important meal, so what shall i do ?

Studies show that children who eat breakfast do better in school, and adults feel better at work as well. When we skip breakfast, we are likely to become tired when our brains and bodies run low on fuel.

By mid-day, we grab a cup of coffee, or eat a sugary candy bar to wake up again, which might work few minutes, but by lunch time we are hungry, and hence become more prone to unhealthy choices at lunch.

i want to know how i can Boost my blood HDL "good cholesterol"?

desirable HDL levels should be 60mg/dl whereas it's considered at risk if it is less than 40mg/dl in men and 50mg/dl in women. we can improve it's blood levels by the below steps:

  1. quit smoking
  2. lose extra kilos especially abdominal fat
  3. increase your daily physical activity
  4. choose healthy fats (olive oil, omega 3- fish, flax seeds) and avoid foods that contain saturated and trans fats, which raise LDL cholesterol and damage your blood vessels.
  5. be moderate in drinking alcohol
  6. include these useful food items to your daily diet (whole grains - oats, omega 3 products like fatty fish - fish oil- flax seeds, nuts like walnut and almonds, plant sterols, spices like curcum or tumeric)

i’m on a weight loss diet program and i’d like to know the best recommended foods for a healthy breakfast ?

Even if you are on a diet your breakfast should supply you with protein, healthy carbs, fiber and good nutrition...examples:

  • whole grain cereal with low-fat milk, one hard-boiled egg, with a glass of water.
  • Omelett made with eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, green onions, peppers and cheese with an apple and a glass of water.
  • One slice of whole grain toast with 2 tablespoons peanut butter with a glass of low-fat milk You can substitute soy milk for cow's milk ...and if you like something sweet one fruit or 3 dates or dried figs will be the best choice.
i suffer of diabetes for about 3 years and i’d like to know if i can add honey to my daily diet or not?

if you are a diabetic both honey and sugar will affect your blood sugar level. However, Honey is sweeter than sugar, so you might use a smaller amount of honey for sugar in some recipes. But honey has more carbohydrates and more calories per teaspoon than does sugar as well honey's sugar (fructose) transfered in the body into triglycerides which are already high in patients suffering from diabetes...If you prefer the taste of honey, go ahead and use it but only in small amounts and be sure to count the carbohydrates in honey as part of your diabetes eating plan and as well to avoid high blood triglycerides... finally my advice to you is to get used to less sweet taste and hence to quit adding sugar.
